In the Lab
Sapkota’s doctoral research focused on the development of antibacterial biomaterials for medical device applications. As antimicrobial resistance continues to pose a growing threat to global health, the need for effective non-antibiotic alternatives to treat bacterial infections has never been more urgent. Her work addresses this challenge by engineering novel delivery systems for gasotransmitters, aimed at preventing and combating infections and complications associated with implanted and indwelling medical devices.
