Moira is a second year Regenerative Bioscience Ph.D student in the Kaiser Lab studying traumatic brain injury (TBI) recovery mechanisms in a pediatric porcine pre-clinical translational model. Specifically, her research focuses on delineating the neural network recovery mechanisms and influence of sexually dimorphic neuroanatomy and development on cognitive, behavioral, and motor function outcomes following TBI.

The ARCS Foundation Scholarship is awarded to UGA’s most promising students who are pursuing degrees in science, engineering, and medical research and who excel in science communication following a rigorous nomination and application process. Moira stated that this award will give her access to a diversity of interactions to gain expert knowledge as well as resources and collaboration opportunities.
