“From what I’ve learned, regenerative bioscience is truly the future of healthcare and medicine as it represents a shift from treating symptoms to potentially curing diseases at their root. I remember learning about several of these regenerative technologies (stem cell therapies, gene editing, tissue engineering, etc.) in my AP biology class in high school and thinking about how big a difference these technologies could make in treating disease we currently cannot cure. At the time, I never would have thought there would be an opportunity for me to work with these technologies and actually play a part in working towards potentially curing these “uncurable” diseases. When I heard about the regenerative bioscience program and the opportunity to pursue RBIO research through the the RBC Fellows program, I knew that I had to pursue my interest in this field. I am especially excited to take part in Dr. Kaiser’s lab next semester, as she focuses on using regenerative medicine as a potential treatment for neural injury.”
